MOVE-UP Cirrus
Experiments at the edge of space
MOVE-Up Cirrus is the first launch of Phase 2, using a newly developed High-Altitude Balloon platform based on the MOVE Beyond satellite bus. The launch is set to take place in May 2026 and serves both as an technical demonstrator mission for the platform and as a test bed for the REXUS/BEXUS projects PEANUT, PHILEAS and SHROOM.
The new HAB platform designed for Phase 2 is based on the 1U MOVE Beyond cube sat bus. It features a dedicated PCB that integrates into the bus and adds capabilities to recieve environmental- as well as GNSS-data during flight and transmit them to a ground station via LoRa. The system is housed in a 3D-printed frame that allows the bus, sensors and antennas to be placed and gives additional space for payloads. This “Main Gondola” is part of the payload train that features a “Secondary Gondola” for additional tracking devices and cameras, as well as parachute and radar reflector.
